Every summer Ontario Northland undertakes critical infrastructure work along the railway to ensure we meet industry safety standards and continue to provide safe, reliable and efficient transportation services to communities and businesses in the North.
Our top priority is to mitigate disruptions to communities and businesses as much as possible as this work is completed.

All communities along Temagami Subdivision (North Bay to Englehart) | WHAT: Joint Elimination Program/ Northlander Project WHY: In order to ensure a safe and efficient passenger train service, ONTC is implementing a joint elimination program. This program will start in North Bay in April 2024, working northward. The anticipated end date for 2024 is in December in Englehart. Porquis | WHAT: Scrap Tie Disposal/ Northlander Project WHY: In order to ensure a safe and reliable passenger train, ONTC is implementing a scrap tie disposal program. This program will clean up the right of way by picking up scrap ties, loading them up on rail cars, then unloading them in specific areas for trucks to load. COMMUNITY IMPACT: Scrap tie piles located close to the right of way. |
