Notes: If child aged 8-14 (inclusive) is traveling alone, an Unaccompanied Child Form must be completed and the student fare will apply. Please review our Unaccompanied Minor Policy.

Child under 2 years of age

Discount: Free

Restrictions: One child ONLY (under 2 years of age), accompanied by an adult/senior or student, will travel free.

Notes: Additional children (under 2 years of age) must pay applicable child fare. Must be accompanied by an adult/senior or student.

Military

One-Way Discount: 15% off regular adult fare only

Individuals with special needs

Discount: Passenger pays regular fare (i.e. adult, senior, student, or child) and attendant travels free

Restrictions: Must present a valid card from a recognized association for persons with disabilities and be accompanied by adult attendant

Individuals with medical appointments

One-Way Discount: 15% off regular adult fare

Restrictions: Must be traveling for medical reasons; presentation of a Doctor's letter (photocopies not acceptable) or a copy of the Northern Health Travel Grant required.

Notes: Not to be combined with senior/student fares or any other discounts. Discount applies to companion if indicated as such on the Northern Health Travel Grant.

Family plan

One-Way Discount: 15% off regular adult fare and child fare 2-11 years of age

Return Discount: 20% off regular adult fare and child fare 2-11 years of age

Restrictions: Must travel as a group with minimum of two members and at least one of these is a dependent (child) under the age of 21.

Compassionate discount

10 Trip Value Pack

Discount: 20% off regular adult fare only

Expiration date: 1 year from date of purchase

Restrictions: Non-Refundable. Valid on Ontario Northland routes only. All tickets must have same origin and destination. Multi-person use allowed.

Notes: Adult fare X 10 tickets less 20% plus HST

Group Discounts

Discount: 20% off regular adult fare only

Expiration date: 1 year from date of purchase

Restrictions: Must travel as a group of 10 or more passengers (same travel date/time/origin/destination).

Notes: Not to be combined with senior/student fares or any other discounts. Tickets must be purchased 3 days in advance of travel date.

REFUNDS

Tickets and paid reservations are eligible for a full refund if the reservation is cancelled by 11:00 pm on the day prior to travel. Tickets and paid reservations cancelled between 11:00 pm on the day prior to travel and 90 minutes prior to scheduled train departure time will be eligible for a refund, less a 15% refund fee.

All tickets are exchangeable for one year from original date of travel, provided the origin, destination and advance purchase requirements remain the same. A new reservation must be made prior to the new date of travel and tickets that are exchanged may be subject to a fare difference.

Pet Policy

Pets are permitted on the Polar Bear Express train service.  All other passenger transportation services (Northlander and Motorcoach) do not accept pets on board. (Exception: service animals accompanying a person with a disability are permitted on all Ontario Northland services).

• Pets may be transported at a surcharge of $22.00 plus HST.
• Pets must be transported in an approved* pet carrier, clearly marked and checked as baggage on the baggage car (not allowed as carry-on baggage).
• Pets must not exceed 75 lbs.
• Pets will be placed in our locked baggage car.  Passengers may not visit their pet during the trip.
• Persons requesting the transportation of pets must be travelling as passengers on board the train, the same day

*The kennel/carrier must be big enough to allow the animal to stand, turn around and lie down comfortably.
