The Accessibility & French Language Services (AFLS) Specialist is responsible for advising on, training and overall compliance in the implementation of programs and policies that are in alignment with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005 (AODA), the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) and French Language Services Act (FLSA) across the organization.


  • Lead the implementation and compliance for all aspects of the AODA, IASR and FLSA  including the maintenance of the company’s Multi-year Accessibility Plan (MYAP), training requirements, accessible employment policies and accessible feedback mechanisms
  • Ensure all policies and all training material, is reflective of all current legislative requirements and up to date, delivered and tracked for compliance reporting 
  • Coordinate and lead regular Accessibility Advisory Committee meetings and Accessibility Committee
  • Complete all compliance reporting and/or audits as directed by Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility
  • Propose, plan, and create activities to address identified challenges
  • Drafting notices and organizing events to promote, educate and engage employees in inclusive an accessible workplace
  • Develop and maintain the Human Resources French Language Services plan in adherence with French Language Services Act (FLSA) and company policy
  • Lead the integration and development of services in French into our existing services and processes
  • Collaborate with all divisions including Passenger Services, Facilities and Human Resources in the development processes to comply with all AODA, ISAR and FLSA
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications team in the facilitation of translation services and promotional material


  • University degree or college diploma in a related field, preferably social justice, social studies, human rights, human resources, business or public administration or political science
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in the development and implementation of policies, programs related to accessibility and/or disability management, preferably in the public sector
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Accessibilities for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the federal ATPDR Act, French Language Services Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Canadian Human Rights Act and Employment Equity Act
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English and French)
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, training and presentation skills
  • Broad understanding of current social issues and the impact of those issues related to achieving a diverse and inclusive workforce
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work well with diverse internal groups and all levels within the organization
  • Experience in coordinating and supporting an advisory committee is considered an asset
  • Creative and proactive self-starter who possesses a high attention to detail, strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Experience writing compliance reports is considered an asset
