ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

The Document Control Specialist is responsible for the management and control of the technical designs, documents and database files related to the Remanufacturing and Repair Centre’s RRP system.  Responsible to work with customer, production, manufacturing and engineering to govern all technical designs, configuration histories and procedures required for contracts

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the maintenance of database files related to Remanufacturing and Repair Centre programs including Engineering/Manufacturing designs, Bills of Material, drawings, procedures and assembly line tasks.  Translates and verifies information from engineering/manufacturing designs and technical documentation into a manufacturing database structure
  • Maintain tracking systems for managing historical information on all drawings and technical documents
  • Ensure that all involved with the Remanufacturing and Repair Centre projects have the proper documents to enable them to perform their duties to customer specifications
  • Perform documentation audits at assembly line stations
  • Maintain technical records and documentation which provide technical specifications, specification control drawings and source control documents associated with all subcontractors and supplier part numbers
  • Maintain configuration records at time of installation, records of design changes after First Article Inspections, changes during performance of refurbishment contracts, and changes by subcontractor and suppliers
  • Ensure that the proper documents related to the history books are collected and compiled on schedule for each customer vehicle.  Meets frequently with customer representatives to review revised technical documentation including History Books
  • Coordinate transmittal of Engineering/Manufacturing documentation to Customer
  • Assist with the preparation of Tender Submittals, and the development of methods, procedures and other documentation required to implement new Contracts
  • Assist with coordinating development and revision of Engineering/Manufacturing information.  Communicates frequently with Contract Engineering firms to commission revisions to drawings
  • Verify and maintain accurate records for the Quality Assurance of all projects along with external documentation
  • Complete necessary administrative duties associated with the QA program, computer system entries including charting
  • Maintain Health and Safety procedures and forms

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of Post-Secondary education in a related field of study or 3 years of similar work experience required
  • Experience in and understanding of Document Control
  • Records Management certificate would be considered an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of computers, including experience with Microsoft Project and Visio considered as an asset
  • Team player with excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and organizational skills
  • A thorough understanding of ISO 9001:2015 considered an asset
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repairs of passenger equipment, freight equipment, locomotives, and components considered an asset
  • Knowledge of AAR requirements and blue print reading considered an asset
  • Must be committed to company health and safety
