ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
Under the direction of the Controller, the Manager, Financial Analysis and Reporting is responsible for overseeing, analyzing, preparing and distributing various internal and external financial and statistical reports.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and other financial reports/analyses for review by Senior Managers, Controller and/or Director of Finance and subsequent presentation to internal and external stakeholders
- Lead team of Financial Analysts with clear direction and goals and provide coaching and guidance to employees through regular monitoring and performance management
- Monitor, analyze and make recommendations complete with a rationale for “what-if” scenarios requested by the Operating Groups or Senior Management
- Prepare and monitor annual budget for various divisions, as well as annual business plan with forecasts for 3-5 years, including cash flow forecasts
- Prepare and monitor 10 year capital asset plan
- Assist to monitor and close select capital expenditures in accordance to the annual Capital Plan
- Assist with financial analysis for long term plans, such as strategic plan
- Coordinate use of general ledger chart of accounts and advise proper methods of reporting financial and statistical information for various divisions through communication with senior management
- Prepare adjusting journal entries at month-end and at year-end closing
- Oversee profitability analysis on specific divisions and cost centers detailing areas for improvement and constraints
- Assist with month-end and year-end consolidation and financial reporting based on PSAB requirements
- Support the review of existing processes to identify and document process efficiencies
- Perform special assignments and other duties as required by the Controller and the Director of Finance
REQUIREMENTS:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (Canada)
- University degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- 3+ years progressive financial experience in complex environments leading teams of financial professionals
- Working knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB)
- Must possess strong computer skills (advanced Excel)
- Must be detail oriented and have superior analytical and financial analysis skills
- AS400/Infinium and Sequel or other “query” based computer software training are a definite asset
- Excellent oral, written communication skills and problem solving skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines with strong time management skills
- Must have good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team oriented, collaborative environment
- Must be committed to Company Health and Safety standards and expectations
- Knowledge of Rail, Motor Coach, and Remanufacturing industries is an asset
