Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (Ontario Northland) is a vital partner in the delivery
of quality transportation services and solutions to Ontarians. Created by the Ontario government
in 1902 to provide transportation services in Northern Ontario, Ontario Northland has helped
shape the identity of Northern Ontario and at the direction of the Minister of Transportation
continues to deliver its services to support Northerners and the Northern Ontario economy.
Ontario Northland is focused on building on the success of the agency’s transformation initiatives
while using this momentum to further align its service offerings with government and customer
expectations. Ontario Northland will continue to proudly support the transportation needs of
communities, businesses, industry, and government to ensure that its vital services are delivered in
a cost effective and measurable manner.
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible for overseeing the administrative operations
within Ontario Northland. The CAO works with top-level executives to devise strategies to meet
the organization's objectives, and reports on the performance of its various departments to the
CEO and board of directors. As a diplomatic, resourceful and enthusiastic leader, the CAO will
facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, intersecting at all levels of the Agency, customer,
community and government, to integrate and promote transportation services and stewardship of
the assets required to deliver them.
The ideal candidate is a transformative leader, who will help enable the modernization of the
Agency. A big picture thinker, with an appreciation for detail, you have held positions of
leadership within a service-oriented environment, specifically with oversight of multiple teams,
departments and/or job functions. Seen as a trusted advisor and colleague, you facilitate an
environment of open communication, combined with the ability to bring an equity lens into all
business areas. High level knowledge and in-depth experience interpreting and following relevant
government and agency legislation, directives and policy are considered strong assets.
