               Enterprise Risk Management Specialist 

REPORTS TO:          Director of Finance

DEPARTMENT:         Finance

The Enterprise Risk Specialist is responsible to support the achievement of the organization's objectives through ensuring the appropriate Enterprise Risk Management processes are in place and working effectively, and that the related standards and procedures are effectively implemented across the organization.


  • Lead Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) including establishing, sustaining and improving the organization risk journey
  • Implement ERM policy and enhance current risk management processes
  • Engage a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders in identification and assessment of operational, strategic, governance and other risk categories and associated risk tolerances through risk registers
  • Liaise with leadership on the identification and assessment of business risks and emerging risks
  • Collaborate with risk owners and facilitate development of key risk indicator metrics
  • Collaborate with risk owners to develop and track risk mitigation strategies and plans
  • Track and control project risks on a continuous basis throughout the risk project life cycle
  • Support development of ERM reporting for the Ministry, Executive Team and the Board of Directors
  • Implement and enhance project risk management tools
  • Prepare and deliver risk management training to the organization
  • Coach Managers on enterprise risk management practices and tools as required
  • Contribute to annual Business Plan regarding risk mitigation initiatives, projects and strategies
  • Other duties as required



  • University degree in Business, Commerce, Finance or a related field of study
  • Professional Risk Management Certificate (e.g. CRM) is an asset
  • Experience working with Ontario Public Sector risk framework is an asset
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in risk controls and assessments, root cause analysis, and enterprise risk management programs
  • Strong analytical and research skills to identify and assess risks from various sources of data
  • Organizational and time management skills, including balancing multiple priorities and tasks while meeting strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team oriented, collaborative environment
  • Must be committed to Company Health and Safety standards and expectations
  • Knowledge of Rail, Motor Coach, and Remanufacturing industries is an asset
