First Northlander Trainset Nearing Key Testing Benchmark
Project Overview:
Ontario Northland was thrilled to mark a critical step toward the Northlander’s return to service later this year, as the first trainset nears completion of burn-in testing.
Burn-in testing is a critical phase, where each trainset must operate safely for over 1,600 kilometres under simulated service conditions, ensuring the Northlander trains meet high standards for quality, performance and passenger comfort.
With burn-in testing nearing completion, communities along the corridor will soon see the new equipment in action. Ontario Northland will start to prepare for service by training staff, conducting emergency preparedness drills, refining schedules, verifying safety systems, and testing on-board technologies, all to deliver seamless passenger experience.
Examples of Northlander launch fares are now available. Below are standard one-way fares for popular routes. Discounts are offered for seniors, students, military personnel, round-trip bookings, and advance ticket purchases, ensuring affordable options for all travelers.
