Changes to Polar Bear Express Pet Policy

To ensure the safety of all passengers, employees and pets, as of January 8, 2024, Ontario Northland will be requiring all Polar Bear Express passengers traveling with pets to provide their own hard-sided pet kennels for transportation.

The Cochrane and Moosonee stations will have a limited amount of carriers for sale for customers who are unable to obtain a kennel prior to travel. Carriers made of metal or hard plastic will be required. Soft carriers will not be permitted. Fare Adjustment

To adjust to the rise in operational costs Ontario Northland will be increasing fares and Bus Parcel Express rates effective September 14th, 2023.

  • Motor coach and Polar Bear Express fares will increase by 1.5%
    • This is an average increase of $0.97 for motor coach passengers and an average increase of $0.77 for Polar Bear Express passengers.
  • Bus Parcel Express rates will be increasing by 1.5%
    • This represents an average increase of approximately $0.20 pending the size of the shipment.

Our transportation services are vital. Increasing our revenue allows us to improve services to meet the needs of our passengers and parcel customers.

Polar Bear Express WinterSchedule 2023/24

Beginning October 16, 2023 until June 29, 2024, the Polar Bear Express passenger train service will operate four (4) round trips per week as part of its regular winter season operations.
